As a Parish Council we do not have a statutory responsibility for services such as planning. This responsibility in the majority of cases rests with the District and Borough Councils as the Local Authority.
For Wetheringsett-cum-Brockford this is Mid Suffolk District Council.
You can search for an application using the Planning Portal on the Mid Suffolk District Council website. You can search using different parameters and keywords, including application reference, postcode and single line of an address.
Having said this, planning is a very important part of the Parish Council’s work. Although we cannot make decisions, we can influence, through plans and comments, building development within the Parish.
Wetheringsett-cum-Brockford Parish Council is asked by Mid Suffolk District Council (MSDC) to comment on all planning applications within the Parish. The District Council has to take into account, but not necessarily follow, the views or recommendations of the Parish Council.
The Parish Council are made aware of all Planning applications within the Parish and these are discussed at the Parish Council meetings. All meetings are open to members of the public who, at the Chairman’s discretion, may speak on matters on the agendas.
